Coincidence Circuit

Is it Causality? Or is it Coincidence Circuit

  • I would not have thought there would be a Wikipedia entry about this.

    Wrap rage

Wrap rage, also called package rage, is the common name for heightened levels of anger and frustration resulting from the inability to open hard-to-remove packaging, particularly plastic blister packs  and clamshells. Consumers suffer thousands of injuries per year, such as cut fingers and sprained wrists, from tools used to open packages and from the packaging itself. (via sleevia)

    via bestofwikipedia.tumblr.com

I imagine that one day a person of unknown gender was horribly sliced by a razor sharp blister pack. They did not have a blog, so they decided the best place on the Internet to express their rage was Wikipedia. The article would have been immediately put up for deletion by someone who does not have hands and has therefore never opened household packaging. Everyone else would realize the universality of the problem and provide a boatload of citation.

I honestly expected the article to be a snippet and not the monstrosity that it is. Seriously. It's got like 500 revisions and like 15 reference links.

    Soramimi

Soramimi or Soramimi kashi is a Japanese term for homophonic translation of song lyrics, that is, interpreting lyrics in one language as similar-sounding lyrics in another language. A bilingual soramimi word play contrasts with a monolingual mondegreen or homophonic transformation. (via calmad)

Doo doo doo do do do. I still have no idea what that song means.

    Christian side hug

The Christian side hug is a satirical term for a display of affection in which a person hugs  another by putting one arm around their shoulders, rather than both arms around them, thus minimizing the chance of inadvertent sexual contact. (via sleevia)

In 1998, Donny Osmond was chosen to be the singing voice of Shang in Walt Disney's Mulan. He sang "I'll Make A Man Out Of You". via en.wikipedia.org
I don't know about all that other stuff that he did, but that song is one of the greatest loves of my life.

I had to do a group presentation about sex and the internet or somesuch. The presentation is finished now, and that means that I can close all of my "research" pages. Goodbye, Wikipedia's list of paraphilias.
